Brilliant Birds - Messy Science Workshop

Birds are amazing! Descended directly from dinosaurs and thriving on every continent, they are masters of the air, land and sea. But, from the intricate nests they build to the musical sounds they make, how often do we stop and admire these special creatures? 

Join this hands-on workshop to explore everything avian with your child (aged 4-10). You don’t have to be an expert, and we certainly don’t mind a bit of mess. At the end of the workshop you will have creatively explored the biology of flight, beaks, feathers and eggs. You’ll also be able to bring home a bird feeder and nesting material dispenser of your own, to hang outdoors and encourage some feathered friends to visit your garden. Each activity will be set up with instructions and a range of materials available to explore the concept fully. At least two pairs will be able to work alongside each other (or collaboratively) at each activity. 

The aim of the workshop is to stimulate discussions about scientific concepts between children and their grown ups. There is no right or wrong way to go about any of the exercises, and creativity in exploration is encouraged. Making a mess is not a problem - in fact it’s encouraged.

Fugle er fantastiske! De nedstammer direkte fra dinosaurerne. De mestrer både luften, jorden og havet. Men hvor ofte stopper vi op og værdsætter disse unikke dyr? 

På denne workshop kan du sammen med dit barn (4-6 årige) opleve fuglenes verden. Du behøver ikke være en ekspert og forvent, at det kan blive lidt beskidt. Der vil være instruktioner og en masse forskellige materialer til stede under workshoppen. Når workshoppen er slut, vil I have udforsket fuglenes biologi lige fra flyvning, næb, fjer og æg. I vil også kunne tage et foderbræt og en beholder med materialer til at bygge rede med hjem. 

Workshoppen vil foregå på engelsk, men alle er velkomne.
