Learn wheel throwing - weekend ceramics course

Learn the basics of wheel throwing and create your own ceramic pieces on an intensive five-day course with Szabina Lócki.

The course is suitable for beginners and for participants with some experience who would like to strengthen their throwing technique.

Szabina will give you guidance in a group setting and introduce you step by step to working with clay on the wheel.

Curious about ceramics and wheel throwing? This intensive evening course gives you a focused introduction to working with clay on the potter’s wheel.

Over four consecutive course days and one follow-up glaze session, you will learn the essential techniques of wheel throwing. The course begins with the fundamentals of centring clay and shaping simple cylinders. From there, you will gradually build your skills and explore trimming, adding details such as handles and spouts, and creating both open and closed forms.

Once your pieces have been bisque fired, you will return for the final session to glaze your work and prepare it for the final firing.

Teaching takes place in step by step format, first building foundations, then allowing time for individual guidance and experimentation. By the end of the course, you will have developed basic technical skills and created your own unique ceramic pieces to take home.
