Queer Community Singing Group
About QCSG
We are a queer, non-traditional singing group who sing pop songs. We do not divide into the classic voice-groups to be inclusive of non-binary and trans friends. No former choir experience is needed, no audition, just reserve your spot and show up <3
Experience singing together without being limited by gender or voice type. We welcome all singing, all genders, all identities, without judgment. We embrace the joy of singing in harmony together, and build community by showing each other respect and kindness. We are split into three random groups where you choose the group in which you feel most comfortable - specifically to embrace voices and people outside of traditional and binary gender norms.
Apart from singing together we are a community-based singing group. This means that it’s about how we are experiencing the singing together rather than individual voices. We always hang out after the session, where we can get to know each other outside the sessions.
When?
We usually sing Saturdays from 11.00-13.15 in Kulturstationen Vanløse, but make sure to check out our calendar to see specific sessions.
How do I sign up?
Are you interested in joining? We are centered around upholding a safer space for lgbtqia+ individuals but are open to everyone. You can read more about us and sign up for a session on our website.
We are free to join! After three trial sessions, we encourage you to sign up as a member. Memberships are flexible, so everyone gives what they can - and non-paying memberships are also available.
What should I know before attending?
We know it can be scary to show up on your own, but we encourage you to try us out, if you feel like this group could be something for you. Our main concept is a one-day-session, which means you don’t have to join every session, but you can join as much as you’d like. This also means that it varies who shows up - most of our sessions we have new people and regulars. We do our best to make sure showing up the first time is a good experience. If you have any hesitation, questions or needs, please reach out. We would love to help <3
Accessibility
All activities are in English. Even though there are people who speak Danish, we encourage everyone to speak English to be inclusive. Vanløse is a Culture House with step free access to all floors with an elevator. All toilets are gender neutral, and there is one certified accessible toilet.
As Kulturstationen is a space open for the public, it differs from time to time how busy it is in terms of people, noise etc. Songlyrics will be visible on a projector. There are chairs without armrests to sit in during the sessions. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or suggestions to make it easier for you to join us.
